Irma E. Kauten

          Services for Irma E. Kauten, 93, of Colonial Manor Nursing Home, La Porte City, formerly of Waterloo, will be 11 a.m. Thursday at White Funeral Home, Independence, with burial in Woodlawn Cemetery, Oelwein.
          Mrs. Kauten died Monday (July 10) at the nursing home of natural causes.
          She was born Nov. 12, 1895, in Oelwein, daughter of Samuel and Luella Hile Sprague. She married Leo Kauten on Feb. 8, 1923, in Oelwein. They farmed in the Oelwein and Fairbank area. He died in 1950.
          Survivors include two sons, Dale of Rowley and Kenneth of Cedar Falls; two daughters, Arlene Seamans of Rowley and Mardell Damme of Waterloo; 13 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; two brothers, Phillip Sprague of Fort Myers, Fla., and Vincent Sprague of Fredericka; and two sisters, Dessie Kammerman of Evansdale and Pauline Cross of Waterloo.
          She was preceded in death by a son, a sister and six brothers.
          Friends may call after 7 p.m. today a White Funeral Home.
